Modeled off of a one-story, five room house, the The Debt Ceiling, 2011, was a constructed home interior with a lowered ceiling approximately four feet off the ground. Inspired by the August 2011 Debt Ceiling debates in the US Congress, the work acts as a visual metaphor for the actual ‘Debt Ceilings’–the heavy weight of anxiety above the heads of millions of Americans currently on the brink of foreclosure.
